Frequently Asked Questions
New Coin Releases
Can I pre-order the next coin release from the Royal Australian Mint?
No, unless otherwise specified by the Mint, pre-orders are not allowed on any possible upcoming releases. Please do not ask and pressure our staff as the answer will be no.
When are new coins released from the Mints?
In most cases the Royal Australian Mint has new releases the 1st Thursday of each month and the Perth Mint, the 1st Tuesday of each month. There are often delays and other factors that may affect this but we will always keep you as up to date as we can on our blog.
What is the best way to secure new coin releases?
As mint releases have been very sought after recently, we have in place a new system for selling new RAM (Royal Australian Mint) releases here. Generally the best way to secure a new release is to come in store as soon as you can on release day. For most popular releases we will have ample stock for walk in customers on the day.
If the coin I want is sold out, will you get more?
The Mint's allocate dealers like ourselves a set quantity for release and generally once sold out, we are unable to secure more stock. Sometimes the mint may allocate us further stock for a number of reasons, but this is not something we can predict but if we are getting more stock, we will update customers on our blog and facebook
I cannot get through on the telephone or get an email response for the new coin release?
Please understand that we are extremely busy on coin release days and being a small business only have a few staff to allocate to answer phones and email. We get thousands of requests every release day and do our best to get to as many as we can. But the volume of enquiries that come in means it is impossible for us to get to everyone.
Shipping
How long will it take to ship my order?
We generally try to get all orders sent within two business days or less. Sometimes it may be longer during peak times or with large new releases but we will do our best to send your order as soon as we can.
Will my order be packed and arrive safely?
Staff at Online Coins & Collectables are trained to send out orders in a way that they would like to receive them if they were the customer and they apy a lot of attention to making sure that your order will arrive safe and secure. Sometimes things still might go wrong though and so all our parcels have transit cover. If you have any issues please contact us as soon as you can.
How much is shipping?
Our standard shipping rates start at $7.95 for smaller items, through to $14.95 to most addresses in Australia.
What shipping service do you use?
The majority of our parcels including ALL COINS are shipped by Australia Post, other items may ship by either Australia Post or Aramex at our discretion.

Coin Handling and Storage
How do I clean coins?
Generally speaking you should NOT clean coins. If they are collectable or valueable, cleaning them will damage the coins and decrease their value.
There are times when you can clean coins though. If you have coins that you know are low value and not necessarily collectable and would like to clean them up as they are part of a set you are collecting, then cleaning them is fine. For instance many Australian Pre Decimal Silver coins are only worth the value of the silver and this will not change if you clean them. We recommend always using caution, taking your time and research first. If you need help, please feel free to contact us. Our range fo cleaning and handling items is available here.
