DETAILS

In 2001 Australia Celebrated the Centenary of Federation, the Royal Australian Mint released a commemorative 50c bearing the Coat of Arms for Each State and Territory.

The Northern Territory Coat of Arms granted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1978, features Aboriginal motifs in the central shield. In the middle of the shield is the figure of a women from the sacred rock art site at Nourlangie in Arnhem Land in characteristic X-Ray style. The figure is flanks by stylised motifs representing campsites joing by the journey paths of Central Australian Aboriginals. The shield is supported by two Kangaroos each holding a seashell. The Territory's floral emblem, Stuart's Desert Rose, is depicted at their feet.
